Design and Art with White Bear Fibers

We are so excited to finally announce a very unique project we were asked to work on with the amazing team at Edwards + Mulhausen Interior Design. The Austin Museum of Art in conjunction with the current Herman Miller Good Design Exhibition are holding a Good Design Contest that invited Designers to take a Herman Miller Eames Chair and turn it into a Piece of Art while remaining a functional chair. The chairs will be on display for one week at the AMOA Downtown and you can go by and vote for the chair you like! (We know it will be the Edwards + Mulhausen one!)
Here’s the message from our dear friend and Designer, Marla Coffee:
Our firm, Edwards + Mulhausen Interior Design (www.emintdesign.com ), “redesigned” a classic Eames Plastic Molded Armchair as a part of the Austin Museum of Art – Good Design Challenge. If you’re downtown this weekend, please stop by the AMoA and vote for our chair! Our final design takes the original chair and incorporates a modern honeycomb design. The pattern was drawn digitally, projected onto the surface, small holes were then drilled to follow the pattern. In the final stage we stitched the pattern with natural cashmere and wool fibers that we hand dyed in collaboration with White Bear Fibers of Austin (www.whitebearfibers.com). We like it – hope you do too!
We’re so excited about this use of our Lagniappe DK yarn with our hand dyed Here are some pictures of the final chair! We hope you’ll go by and see all the chairs and vote for our friends’ chair!!

The chair looks very comfortable – and BEAUTIFUL with the extra White Bear Fiber enhancement. I have forwarded the link onto an Austin buddy with hopes that she’ll pass the word around. Good luck!
